PDF Editor for SharePoint Online and External Web Applications (Vercel)

Muhimbi’s PDF Editor for SharePoint Online can be installed in three ways: through a file handler, as a web part, or with an online extension. One of the installation prerequisites is a Vercel account, as our code is hosted there. We use Vercel because our PDF Editor is based on Next.js, which is created by Vercel.
What Is Vercel?
Vercel is a cloud platform for frontend developers that hosts web applications and provides developers with a toolkit to securely build, deploy, and scale the best web experiences using any framework.
Why Do You Need to Sign Up with Vercel?
Upon running an installation file and installing the minimum version of the NuGet provider, you’ll need to log in to your Vercel account using a PowerShell window. The deployment of the application will start when you type Y on the command line. You’ll also need the Vercel account to update the license.
Do We Send Files to Vercel?
Vercel is only used to host our code, and no data is stored on the server; there are no databases involved. There’s only a session variable that stores the URL of a file and the ID of the user who initiated the request to open the PDF file. The server (Vercel) is managed by the end customer, and Muhimbi won’t have access to it.
